Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting new opportunity for a Project Manager - Operations. The ideal candidate will combine a technical background along with project management skills to  plan, organize, lead and control all aspects of operational projects, including facility expansion and addition of new work cells to support new business and increased customer demands. This will be in conjunction with all applicable MAM function groups.   

Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 annually

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals including successful implementation and maintenance of MOS (Magellan Operating System).
  • Administer all aspects of time-limited, short term, specific, business initiatives that result in operational improvements. and interfaces with cross functional departments to resolve process-related problems.
  • Organize and direct the activities of Cross Functional Teams including ME, Tooling, NC Programming, Estimating, Purchasing, Facilities, Process Engineering, Operations, Finance and Contracts using MAM's Project Management tools and systems.
  • Facilitate, manage and track all projects related to budget, cost savings, capacity, utilization of equipment and purchase of new equipment etc.
  • Facilitate Value Stream Mapping Kaizen events, optimizing manufacturing flow and boosting production output.
  • Working with cross functional teams, as applicable, to provide training for improved processes.
  • Writing technical reports, maintaining open issues list, and communicating confidently to all levels of the business, both by written and verbal means.
  •  Develops project plans to achieve specific goals or solve daily problems, by defining scope, identifying stakeholders, defining constraints (budget, material, people, equipment, other).
  • Work with Maintenance department to ensure timely development of PM program, spare parts list and zero interruption to regular production for new machinery and equipment.

Position Requirements 

  • Degree in mechanical, materials metallurgy or industrial engineering
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in Manufacturing environment. Aerospace Manufacturing & MRO experience is an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset
  • Must be familiar with problem solving techniques, e.g., 5 WHY's, Fishbone Analysis, 8D's, ...
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 / 9110 is an asset
  • Highly organized with strong Project Management skills
  • Creative / outside the box thinker
  • Detail oriented
  • Approachable with excellent communication skills
  • Team player, able to manage conflicts
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and provide recommendation with supporting data
  • Proficient in SolidEdge and technical sketching.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
