Job description

HGA is seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support our Integrated Services Team and client operations. This role serves as a key business partner to Project Managers and Department Managers by providing project controls support across budgeting, financial performance, resource planning, scheduling, and project reporting. The Project Controls Specialist plays a critical role in driving project success by promoting consistency, accountability, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle while helping deliver positive financial outcomes for both HGA and our clients.
The Project Controls Specialist serves as a support and accountability role for all Project Managers and Department Managers. Day-to-day activities include support for project budgeting and financials, manpower/resource planning, and project reporting and scheduling. The Project Controls Specialist ensures consistency and accountability throughout the business unit for all controls related processes and procedures. The Project Controls Specialist plays an integral part of project execution, with a focus on positive financial outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Provides project controls support to Project Managers and Department managers, with some overlap with Corporate project controls team.
  • Working with department managers to develop budgets for all proposals and projects.
  • Manage all manpower/resource planning via weekly meetings with all department managers.
  • Weekly meetings with project managers for detailed status review of every project and proposal.
  • Assist in the development of change orders, as needed.
  • Assist project managers with all project reporting, including status reports, schedules, meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Ensure business unit compliance with all controls related processes and procedures, providing input for process changes and improvements, as needed.
  • Coordinate with Corporate project controls team for Corporate reporting and controls needs, including support of project or business unit audits.
  • Position should expect a high volume of meetings to support collaboration among many offices and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Experience of 5+ years required, with experience working for an engineering consulting company preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business field preferred. Alternate degrees/certifications with related experience may be considered.
  • Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project scheduling software experience is desired.
  • Strong interest in database management, which will be associated with manpower projections, budget entry, and cost projections.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • High-level proficiency in MS Excel. Proficient in use of MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Word.
  • Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections.
  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Capability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
  • Capability and willingness to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Located within daily commuting distance of one of HGA's INT office locations.
