Job description

Job Description

Position Overview


As the Director, Project Controls you are responsible for the oversight of the Project Controls Cost Control and Scheduling teams. Leadership responsibilities include improving cost control capabilities and adoption across all project portfolios, streamlining the scheduling function to best suit project and portfolio needs across all stages of the project lifecycle, leading the continued improvement of Invenergy's CBS and WBS, acting as a thought partner in advancing reporting capabilities and dashboarding, and integrating the cost and scheduling functions. This role will report to the SVP of Project Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the project controls team including providing direction to team members, leading meetings, assigning workloads, and identifying developmental opportunities.

  • Work directly with Project Managers and Project Control Specialists to support the execution of large-scale delivery projects from proposal to closeout phases.

  • Monitor and proactively provide input on project and issues impacting the project.

  • Work independently with project stakeholders to design project scope and report on costs and schedules

  • Manage the WBS and CBS implementation across each project portfolio and ensure compliance measures are established

  • Work alongside the Data Analytics Team to Manage the development of project reporting on cost, schedule, and risk for projects, portfolios, and company dashboards

  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance on projects for the resolution of difficult and complex project control problems

  • Interface with project management teams, the client, and stakeholders, attend regular meetings and provide statistical reports to leaders of project managers and executive management staff.

  • Recommend and oversee the customization of project control systems needed to meet specific project requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Project Management

  • 10+ years of work experience in construction, utility, project management, or engineering consulting.

  • Knowledge of scheduling tools, such as Primavera P6 or MS Project

  • Knowledge of cost control tools, such as SAP, Oracle, EcoSys, etc.

  • Experience leading internal initiatives and process improvement

  • Experience in critical path schedule analysis, integrated cost-schedule planning, schedule performance assessment, cost accounting, and reporting.

  • Experience in planning and cost controlling support which includes variance analysis, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of invoices processes, etc.

  • Proven ability to work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to establish and maintain appropriate project controls systems that provide timely and accurate information

  • The ability to assess the impacts of design/construction changes and schedule slippages, including but not limited, to earned value techniques for cost and schedule progress assessment while keeping project and executive management fully informed

  • Ability to work collaboratively during interactive planning sessions making changes in real time

  • Experience leading a team, including a team of managers

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and analytical abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to travel up to 5% of the time

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in renewable energy, transmission, and/or thermal projects.

  • FERC accounting experience.

  • Complex ERP, EAM, WMIS technology experience.

  • Experience in Work and Cost Breakdown Structure development.

  • Experience with cost-schedule change control processes.

  • PowerBI or AI applications for project controls experiences.

Base Pay

$170,000.00 - $196,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 30% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
