Description
Junior Project Controls Analyst
Overview:
The GBS Group is seeking a Jr. Project Controls Analyst to support our Maritime Division located in our Virginia Beach, VA office. The Jr. Project Controls Analyst will assist with project setups, financial tracking, proposal review support, budgeting, and general financial administration. Successful candidates should also be comfortable with performing other administrative functions as needed since we work in a team environment. This position reports directly to the Project Controller Manager.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Assist Project Managers with establishing and monitoring budgets, as well as providing transparency into financial performance on a routine basis.
  • Assist with updating financial forecasting models and reconciliation to ensure project accounts remain profitable and revenue recognition is balanced and accurate.
  • Assist with the development and auditing of cost and price proposals, ensuring all submissions for solicitations and quotes are accurate and compliant.
  • Assist with invoice preparation and accounts receivable follow ups.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the Business Central accounting system, overseeing project setup, reviewing and approving employee expense reports, and ensuring all charging data is accurate from award to closeout.
  • Support other administrative and financial functions as required.

Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
  • 0 to three (3) years of professional experience
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Desired Characteristics:
  • Internship or entry-level experience in accounting, finance, project controls, or government contracting.
  • Basic understanding of financial reporting.
  • Exceptional collaborative skills with the ability to interface across operational and financial teams.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal guidance, taking full ownership of work products in a fast-paced environment. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Be able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, strong attention to detail and ability to identify financial issues or inconsistencies.
