Job description

Title: Assistant Project Manager Location: Rochester, NY, US Salary: $55,000.00 To $63,000.00 Annually At Hewitt Young, excellence is our standard. Summary: The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful execution of construction projects by coordinating schedules, documentation, materials, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. This role exists to uphold consistency, eliminate delays, and reinforce HY standards across every project. Core Responsibilities: Support Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project coordination to maintain safe, efficient workflow across all phases of construction.

Oversee and organize project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, permits, change orders, meeting minutes, logs, and closeout packages. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to confirm lead times, delivery schedules, scopes of work, and project commitments. Track project schedules and communicate critical path updates, potential risks, and key decision points to internal teams.

Assist with procurement activities, including buyouts, pricing evaluations, and material tracking to support on-time project execution. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, drawings, logs, and correspondence within HY systems. Participate in jobsite and project meetings, documenting action items and ensuring timely follow-up through resolution.

Demonstrate and uphold HY's standard of professionalism in all interactions with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams. Skill and knowledge: Knowledge of construction processes, drawings, submittals, and field workflows. Strong organization and time-management with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Effective communication with field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership. Proficiency in project management software, spreadsheets, and documentation systems. Ability to solve problems, anticipate issues, and support fast-moving field operations.
