Key Account / Program Manager โ€“ Aero, Space and Defense

Machine Specialties, Inc. (MSI) is a leading precision machining and metal finishing company that designs and manufactures sophisticated, cost-effective solutions for our customer's most demanding challenges. Our company is located just outside of Greensboro, in Whitsett, NC

We are seeking a dynamic Program Account Manager to join our high-performing sales and customer service team. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of cultivating and growing key aerospace and defense partnerships,. The ideal candidate will have proven and successful experience in managing complex, multi-layered relationships with large B2B customers.

Position Summary:

Serve as the primary customer liaison with one or more key customer accounts, and help lead both high customer satisfaction and profitable growth within those accounts.

Help manage and co-ordinate internal and customer cross-functional teams (e.g. purchasing, engineering, production, quality) to ensure program success, process compliance and contract requirements.

The role involves managing day-to-day customer account activities, ensuring on-time product deliveries and project schedules, managing account profitability and contract terms, monitoring customer satisfaction, coordinating program tracking meetings, resolving customer issues, management of the end-to-end manufacturing lifecycle and providing performance reporting and analysis.

The candidate will apply in-depth knowledge, working on problems, and exercising considerable judgment with minimal supervision. You will proactively manage and build out professional relationships, identify opportunities within the customer, facilitate clear communication between various departments, and provide data-driven insights to maintain high standards of service and operational efficiency. The position demands in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, pricing, contracts, strong customer relations, negotiation, and project management.

Perform tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work as a member of team responsible for day-to-day activities of customer accounts to ensure that product deliveries are on time and that projects/programs are on schedule/develop action plans to correct out of plan conditions.
  • Build and sustain long-term, trusted relationships with executive-level contacts to fuel business growth.
  • With guidance from more experienced team members manage customer account profitability; forecasting, planning and monitoring efficiency and execution of strategies.
  • Strongly participate in pricing/bid preparation and the development and management of contract terms.
  • Manage and monitors customer satisfaction day to day and formally (customer surveys, self assessments, complaint management, problem resolution, satisfaction management).
  • Communicate frequently with customers to help ensure satisfaction with the company and the products.
  • Co-ordinate and hosts regular/as needed program tracking meetings with the customer and internal account team members to ensure ongoing communication and up-to-date progress/status reporting occurs.
  • Receive and resolves customer issues and complaints. Monitors the impact on inventory of order changes.
  • Provide performance reporting and analysis for monthly Operations Reviews and quarterly Customer Performance Reviews.
  • Work with cost engineering, finance and SCM staff to coordinate efforts to analyze costs and price variances.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues regarding supply chain, technical difficulties, or scheduling bottlenecks.to mitigate potential risks.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process, schedules and scheduling requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of the business issues associated with manufacturing precision parts.
  • In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts and contract negotiations.
  • Thorough understanding of business risks and price make up (Value add and Materials)
  • Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Good presentation, database management and computer skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, detailed projects to a successful end while working under tight time deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers, building trust and confidence with customers as both their advocate, and
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high performance relative to the customer expectations.

Key Qualifications (Preferable):

  • 5โ€“7 years in a commercially orientated role in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of purchasing methods, entities, and supply chain requirements.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation and executive-level communication skills.
  • Self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to inspire others and achieve results.

Physical/Work Environment:

  • This is a manufacturing-based role requiring presence in a machining environment and frequent interaction with production floors
