Job description


As a Product Engineer at Genesis Products, you will be part of an innovative and dynamic team where creativity and problem-solving drive continuous growth and improvement. This role is pivotal in designing and developing high-quality products by creating detailed 3D CAD models and 2D specification drawings. Additionally, you will coordinate and occasionally execute prototype and production sample builds to ensure design accuracy and functionality. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position requires expertise in AutoCAD 2D, Inventor or SolidWorks 3D modeling, and CNC tool-path software (such as Alphacam). Strong project management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design and development of new and current products
  • Responsible for creating 2D & 3D CAD designs and detailed drawings
  • Responsible for creating CNC tool-path programs
  • Program and operate CNC routers
  • Coordinate and occasionally execute prototype and production sample builds
  • Provide support to manufacturing to ensure products are fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design
  • Supply information for product quotes, coordinate with vendors, and make engineering drawings, as required, to facilitate changes in production
  • Evaluate proposed engineering changes for impact and feasibility on the product and process prior to incorporation
  • Develop and improve engineering standards
  • Develop and maintain procedures/processes that support the Sales team and new customers
  • Interfaces with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions
  • Inspect parts for compliance upon execution of programs
  • Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings/production orders
  • Minimum of 3 years experience
  • Fluency in AutoCAD 2D, Inventor or SolidWorks 3D/Alphacam
  • Strong experience programming CNC routers
  • Experience with wood products is preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Understanding of draft angles and molding/molds
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to be hands-on with materials and processes to learn and adapt
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment and to give/receive feedback
  • Capable of using calipers and other precision measuring instruments
