How to become a product engineer?

For a career as a product engineer, you need excellent technical skills, especially with CAD, CAM, and product development software. Not only must you know how to use these tools yourself, but you must be able to explain their use to non-technical team members. Most product engineers start by earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Additional qualifications include product design experience, knowledge of the product development cycle, and basic knowledge of sales and marketing. Though generalized positions are available, many product engineers focus on a specific niche, such as industrial product engineering and manufacturing.
