Global Commercial Services (GCS) serves millions of business customers around the world, from mom-and-pop shops to Fortune 500 companies. Responsibilities
How will you make an impact in this role?
We're looking for graduate level interns to support the Global Commercial Services (GCS) product vision as a Product Development Intern. The successful candidate will own the product strategy for one of our commercial banking, cash flow management, or payments products. Product Managers at American Express play a central role identifying customer needs, building outstanding experiences, and leading teams to manage and market these products. This is a fast-paced team driving the development of commercial customer solutions at American Express.
As a GCS Product Development Intern, you will:
  • Develop business cases for new products, features, and customer experiences.
  • Shape product marketing strategies to drive customer engagement and new growth.
  • Derive insights from the competitive landscape and customer feedback.
  • Synthesize analytics and financials to develop data-driven recommendations, define success metrics, and evaluate product performance
  • Support product development activities by documenting requirements, coordinating cross-functional deliverables, and maintaining product documentation and backlogs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Finance, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Design, and other stakeholders to support the development, launch, and enhancement of commercial products.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in full-time graduate degree program.
  • Graduate degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
  • 3 plus years of prior relevant full-time work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial payments, digital products, and product development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to distill complex data and concepts into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to continually learn about the evolving payments landscape and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships with leaders, colleagues across different time zones, and cross-functional partners to deliver value.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated resilience, proactive mindset, and a willingness to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in analytical and presentation tools, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, etc.) to enhance research, analysis, problem solving, and productivity.
