What Is a Performance Analyst?

A performance analyst helps companies increase revenues and profitability by improving operational efficiency. As a performance analyst, your job duties include evaluating current business practices and reviewing revenues and expenses. What are Performance Analysts?

Performance Analysts are professionals who collect, analyze, and interpret data to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, projects, or teams within an organization. Their main goal is to identify trends, measure outcomes, and provide actionable insights to help improve performance. Performance Analysts work in various industries, including finance, sports, business, and public sector organizations. They often use statistical tools, reporting software, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making and drive improvements.

How does a Performance Analyst typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Performance Analysts often work closely with teams across various departments, such as finance, operations, and marketing, to gather and interpret data related to business performance. They collaborate by sharing insights, developing performance metrics, and assisting other teams in understanding data-driven recommendations. This cross-functional interaction is crucial for identifying trends, optimizing processes, and ensuring that strategic objectives are met. Regular communication and teamwork are key aspects of the role, making strong interpersonal skills highly valuable.

What does a performance analyst do?

A performance analyst evaluates and monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes, systems, or employees using data analysis tools and techniques. They identify areas for improvement, generate reports, and support decision-making to enhance overall performance. Strong analytical skills and proficiency with software like Excel or specialized analytics tools are essential for this role.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

Performance analysts typically do not earn $10,000 a month without specialized experience or certifications. Most roles with such income levels emphasize performance, results, and industry knowledge over formal education.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Performance Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Performance Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in data interpretation, and a relevant degree such as in finance, business, or mathematics. Familiarity with data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI, as well as experience with performance measurement frameworks, is typically required. Job description

Performance Analyst
Location:On-site in Tampa, FL - Elite Insurance Partners
Salary-$80K - $100K/ year
Elite Insurance Partners (EIP) is a nationally recognized leader in the Medicare and life insurance space, consistently ranked as a Top Workplace and one of the fastest-growing insurance brokerages in the U.S. We're passionate about helping families protect their future, and we're looking for a Performance Analyst who can help us protect ours, by monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the KPIs that drive our success.
This isn't a "build a report and call it a day" type of role. We're seeking someone who is curious, forward-thinking, and eager to challenge assumptions. You'll work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, operations, and leadership to ensure we're not just hitting targets, we're exceeding them. If you can spot a lagging indicator before it derails performance and know how to translate complex data into a clean, actionable dashboard, we want to meet you.
What You'll Do
  • Monitor organizational performance trends and flag anomalies before they become problems
  • Analyze operational, financial, and strategic data to measure performance and uncover insights
  • Develop, maintain, and automate dashboards, scorecards, and KPI trackers in Power BI, Excel, and Salesforce
  • Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Power BI Copilot, Excel AI) to summarize trends, write reports, and streamline workflows
  • Enable non-technical users to extract insights through natural language querying and AI copilots
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify underperforming areas, root causes, and actionable improvements
  • Deliver clear, concise reporting to leadership - turning complexity into clarity
  • Build and refine KPI frameworks to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Conduct ad hoc deep dives to support high-stakes strategic decisions
What You Bring
  • 2-4+ years in a performance, business, data, or operations analyst role
  • Strong experience with Power BI, Salesforce, Excel, SQL, and BI tools
  • Proven use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Python GPT libraries, etc.) to automate analysis or generate insights
  • Comfortable working with large, messy datasets and turning them into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Deep understanding of KPIs, business performance metrics, and process optimization
  • Excellent communication skills, you can explain analytics to non-analytical stakeholders
Bonus Points For
  • Experience in insurance, call centers, marketing agencies, or high-growth environments
  • Contributing to or maintaining a data dictionary or KPI glossary
  • Owning a monthly/quarterly business review (MBR/QBR) process
  • Migrating reporting from spreadsheets to BI platforms
  • Python or R skills for deeper statistical analysis
Why Join EIP?
At EIP, our people are our greatest asset. That's why we invest heavily in your success, both inside and outside the office.
Perks & Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $80K - $100K, based on experience
  • 401(k) with company match up to 3.5% after one year
  • Generous PTO
  • Onsite amenities including:
    • Fully equipped gym (paid for)
    • Starbucks coffee station
    • Massage chair relaxation room
    • Cafeteria with professional cooks
    • Covered walking trail for breaks and fresh air
Employment Type: Full-Time
