Job Summary:

The People Operations Assistant supports the People team with day-to-day tasks and employee needs, including onboarding and offboarding support. This role maintains accurate employee information, supports basic reporting, and helps ensure the departmentโ€™s processes and initiatives run efficiently and effectively.


General Responsibilities:

  • Manages the full onboarding process for new hires including initial outreach, background check administration, preparation of onboarding materials, completion of I-9 verification, and employee setup in the HRIS and other People systems ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Manage the employee offboarding process including scheduling exit interviews, preparing separation documentation, terminations within the HRIS and other People systems, coordinating payroll notifications, collecting company assets and maintaining personnel records, ensuring all offboarding activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Processes incoming HR-related mail and routes to appropriate parties.
  • Processes unemployment claims and employment verifications.
  • Handle day-to-day employee questions and administrative support related to PTO, policies, and People team systems.
  • Sends daily birthday and work anniversary communication for employees.
  • Completes monthly insurance billing GL coordination with the Accounting team.
  • Supports reporting needs by pulling and organizing HR data.
  • Manages People Team expense reporting.
  • Coordinates the length of service awards program, including tracking eligibility and ensuring timely distribution of awards.
  • Supports planning and coordination of employee engagement events and activities.
  • Maintains accurate time and attendance records.
  • Files, scans and organizes HR documents within the People team filing system and completes general data entry and administrative support tasks as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with a broad range of employee types and personalities.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly and effectively shift between competing priorities and projects.
  • Must be able to interact with sensitive information and uphold confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to contribute creative ideas and support employee engagement initiatives and events.


Experience and Education:

  • 1-3 years of experience in administrative, customer service, human resources or office support experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with Office products such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Frequently operates standard office equipment including computers, phones, printers and copiers.
  • Occasionally move throughout the office and warehouse to support operations and employee activities.
  • May occasionally lift, carry, move or set up materials and supplies for employee engagement activities.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with employees, leaders, vendors and external partners.
