Pastry Assistant Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Pastry Assistant to join our growing pastry team. This role is integral to the efficient and consistent production of all baked goods and desserts, working directly under the Pastry Sous Chef. The ideal candidate is passionate about pastry arts, possesses strong organizational skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth within the department and the company, with potential for salaried position upon department and company growth.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Pastry Sous Chef in the daily preparation and production of all dessert items, baked goods, and confectioneries for multiple companies within the organization.

Accurately follow recipes, scaling, measuring, and mixing ingredients for production runs.

Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in the pastry section, including proper storage and rotation of ingredients.

Monitor inventory levels for ingredients and supplies, communicating needs to the Pastry Sous Chef.

Ensure consistency and quality in all finished products.

Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Assist in training and mentoring new or seasonal staff as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in a high-volume pastry or bakery environment preferred.

Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.

Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredient function, and equipment operation.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
