How much do part time recruitment jobs pay per hour?

As of May 30, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time recruitment in the United States is $18.75, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.35 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Recruiter, you need a good understanding of the recruitment process, strong interpersonal skills, and often a background in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, and digital communication tools is typically required. Exceptional communication, time management, and relationship-building skills help you stand out in this role. These abilities are crucial for efficiently sourcing candidates, managing multiple requisitions, and ensuring a positive experience for both clients and applicants.

How does a part-time recruitment role typically balance sourcing candidates and administrative tasks within limited hours?

In a part-time recruitment position, time management is crucial since your hours are limited compared to a full-time recruiter. You'll often need to prioritize high-impact activities such as sourcing qualified candidates, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews. Administrative tasks like updating applicant tracking systems and coordinating with hiring managers are still essential, but these are often streamlined or supported by automation tools. Strong communication skills and effective organization help ensure you can collaborate with your team and meet recruitment targets despite a reduced schedule.

What is part time recruitment?

Part time recruitment refers to the hiring process for positions that require employees to work fewer hours than a standard full-time schedule, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. Recruiters in this field focus on sourcing, interviewing, and placing candidates in part-time roles across various industries. This type of recruitment often appeals to students, parents, retirees, or anyone seeking flexible work arrangements. Part time recruitment can be managed by in-house HR teams or external recruitment agencies, depending on company needs.

Brief Summary

BizFirst is hiring a part-time Experienced Recruiter with strong full lifecycle recruiting experience across federal, enterprise, and commercial environments. This role is best suited for someone who can quickly understand client requirements, identify qualified candidates, and screen for both technical fit and culture fit.

The ideal recruiter is comfortable supporting technical, functional, and senior-level roles, and can represent BizFirst with professionalism and sound judgment.

What You Will Do

As a Part-Time Recruiter, you will support recruiting efforts from intake through candidate submission, including:

  • Source candidates for federal, enterprise, and commercial roles using job boards, LinkedIn, internal databases, referrals, and other recruiting channels.
  • Recruit for technical, functional, and senior-level roles.
  • Review resumes and profiles to assess skills, experience, education, clearance, location, compensation, and availability.
  • Conduct phone and video screens to evaluate qualifications, communication skills, motivation, compensation expectations, and overall fit.
  • Assess culture fit and professional fit, including how candidates work with teams, clients, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear candidate summaries that explain why a candidate is a strong match.
  • Communicate with candidates throughout the process, including outreach, screening, follow-up, interview coordination, and status updates.
  • Work with BizFirst leadership and recruiting team members to understand client priorities and refine search strategy.
  • Track recruiting activity and candidate status in the applicant tracking system.
  • Help maintain a positive, professional candidate experience.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who brings sound judgment, recruiting discipline, and the ability to evaluate candidates beyond surface-level keyword matches.

Strong candidates will have:

  • Experience with full lifecycle recruiting, from sourcing through candidate submission or offer support.
  • Experience recruiting for federal government, government contractor, enterprise, or commercial clients.
  • Familiarity with federal recruiting terms such as clearance levels, contract support, labor categories, and government client environments is helpful.
  • Ability to recruit for both technical and functional roles, including IT, cybersecurity, software, cloud, data, systems, engineering, finance, operations, program management, acquisition, contracts, HR, business analysis, administrative leadership, and related positions.
  • Experience screening senior-level candidates and communicating with experienced professionals.
  • Strong ability to assess both technical fit and culture fit.
  • Ability to read job descriptions carefully and turn requirements into effective sourcing and screening strategies.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing resumes, documenting candidate information, and preparing submission notes.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Professional judgment when representing BizFirst and our clients.
