The Challenge:
The Business Operations Manager will be responsible for driving a culture of accountability, success and goal achievement for the business team and throughout the organization while supporting also the team's development and leadership.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in collaboration with the existing Business Management team, the Business Operations Manager will:
  • Oversee forecast and data management to support performance goal attainment, metrics and directives required by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
  • Coach and assist Energy Advisor staff in the areas of prospecting, relationship building, needs identification, probability assessments, pipeline management, and need fulfillment.
  • Operationalize strategies and business plans into end use and sector-specific goals, initiatives and tactics and oversee their implementation and monitoring of performance and results.
  • Address and resolve customer and contractor concerns by gathering information, coordinating with relevant teams, and ensuring timely, constructive solutions that support a positive program experience.
  • Develop, track and report critical business metrics to allow accurate assessment of all aspects of performance, productivity, strategic effectiveness and financial performance.
  • Develop and analyze reports to determine trends and utilize the analysis to support program participation and drive energy savings. Identify additional savings opportunities by sector. Regularly report out to the leadership team on program forecast and pipeline, and any need actions.
  • Conduct plan reviews with the Energy Advisors on a regular cadence. Work with the team to accurately assess probabilities of projects and project pipelines. Take action when needed to increase activity and pipeline to ensure goal attainment.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures in coordination with other Program Managers, ensure Energy Advisors follow these procedures and work with the broader team to update as necessary.
  • Oversee annual updates and maintenance of commercial program forms and documentation including but not limited to applications, rules and requirements, and program agreements.
  • Drive program strategy and continuous improvement through effective collaboration with other departments and individuals.
  • Present to the PUC, customers, contractors, and the media on the business programs as needed.

What Sets You Apart:
  • 7+ years of professional experience demonstrating a track record of business operations management, sales/business development experience, and direct supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, environmental science, engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills were acquired.
  • Working knowledge of Energy Efficiency program implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, make strategic decisions and recommendations, and guide others' decision making by identifying the anticipated benefits, consequences, and impacts of alternatives.
  • Well versed with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook along with Salesforce CRM experience and ability to leverage system to fullest capabilities.
  • Must have demonstrated people skills and be able to effectively lead, teach and manage a diverse workforce in a complex and challenging work environment while maintaining good workplace morale and performance.
  • Ability to set and clearly articulate goals/priorities and exhibit a high level of energy and drive to achieve them. A perspective that encourages personal commitment and holds management and support staff accountable for achieving targets
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, well organized, self-starting, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and work well in a team setting. It is critical that productivity and accuracy be demonstrated in performance of work.
  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of the Hawai'i Energy program.
  • Valid driver's license.
