Position Summary

A Floater is a crosstrained Office Services team member based in McLean VA, who travels to the Reston, VA and DC area to provide flexible coverage across mailroom, shipping/receiving, and general office support, ensuring consistent operations whenever staffing gaps or workload demands arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • This position will be stationed in McLean, VA with travel to the Reston, VA and DC area whenever staffing gaps or workload demands arise.

  • Receive, sort, process, and deliver all incoming mail and packages

  • Pick up, transport, and deliver materials within and between departments (including VA and DC locations)

  • Deliver office supplies and support internal building deliveries

  • Maintain records, logs, and files; collect data for reporting

  • Ensure the Customer Service area is staffed and provide coverage as needed

  • Apply knowledge of postal regulations and basic computer skills

  • Resolve issues and support customers, including occasional difficult interactions

  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper operation

  • Communicate with client contacts and keep management informed of operational needs

  • Prioritize tasks, adapt to changing demands, and demonstrate leadership

  • Work overtime when required

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED

  • Reliable transportation for travel to multiple client sites

  • Minimum 2 years of Mail/Print Services or Office Services experience preferred

  • 1–3 years of experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

  • Ability to operate mail carts, hand carts, and flatbeds

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds

  • Have a Drivers license
