Job Summary
The National Director of Catering Growth serves as the enterprise leader responsible for the performance, profitability, standards, and growth of the Compass One catering program across all Amazon locations. This leader drives national strategy while influencing a matrixed network of operations leaders, culinary teams, marketing partners, and support functions to achieve consistent execution and sustainable growth.
The role is accountable for establishing industry-leading catering standards, driving financial performance, developing scalable growth initiatives, and ensuring a best-in-class customer experience. Success requires exceptional leadership through influence, strong business acumen, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to align diverse stakeholders around common goals. While serving in a national capacity, this role also provides partial support and key responsibilities to onsite an operation.
The ideal candidate will be located in Austin, Texas, or Nashville, Tennessee, to best support the strategic and operational needs of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Leadership and Influence
  • Lead the national catering governance model across all Compass One at Amazon locations
  • Influence operational leaders, culinary teams, and support functions to achieve national catering objectives regardless of reporting structure
  • Establish clear performance expectations, scorecards, and accountability mechanisms for catering execution across all markets
  • Partners with Area Leaders on action planning for performance expectations, providing tools, measurement and monitoring to the initiative with final accountability for execution owned by the Area Leadership
  • Drive organizational alignment between operations, culinary, finance, marketing, digital, and client stakeholders
  • Serve as the executive subject matter expert for catering growth and operational excellence
  • Create a culture of innovation, accountability, profitability, and customer-centricity
  • Lead change management initiatives required to deploy new processes, systems, menus, technologies, and standards nationally
  • Develop and maintain national catering playbooks, operating standards, and training frameworks

Financial Leadership
  • Own national catering P&L performance
  • Establish annual profitability targets for all sites
  • Develop strategies to improve contribution margin through menu engineering, labor optimization, operational efficiency, and pricing
  • Partner with Finance and Operations leaders to ensure catering programs meet or exceed defined profitability standards
  • Analyze pricing models against competitive industry benchmarks
  • Develop corrective action plans for underperforming markets

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute national catering strategy aligned with business and brand goals
  • Drive revenue growth through menu innovation, service optimization, and cross-selling initiatives
  • Leverage approved branding guidelines to develop catering collateral and messaging
  • Partner with Area Leaders to manage catering budgets and cost controls
  • Lead the development of a uniform customer journey for catering clients
  • Support VIP and high-impact events with elevated service standards
  • Develop relationship with Amazon Travel & Events for continued growth opportunities

Operational Execution
  • Key contact for onsite clients at home site for VIP events, providing relationship point of contact and oversight of customization and quality
  • Design and implement seasonal catering menus and promotions
  • Support national catering customers through simplified offerings and direct engagement
  • Manage Expressions Lab funnel
  • Aggregate and analyze catering data, trends, and performance reporting
  • Provide ad-hoc support for CLT catering and events
  • Implement and maintain catering service standards across all sites
  • Develop new cross-selling opportunities (e.g., Food Fleet, WPC)
  • Track and report execution of seasonal promotions and growth initiatives

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred
  • Experience: 8+ years in catering operations, hospitality, or food service leadership roles, with national or multi-site oversight
  • Skills: Strong operational, analytical, and leadership skills; proficiency in catering systems, reporting tools, and customer experience platforms
  • Travel: 30%as determined by business needs.
