Job description

Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
Join our Catering Crew!

Working at a Chick-fil-A restaurant is more than a job. It is an opportunity to grow in teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and service within a positive, people-focused environment. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are locally owned and operated by independent, franchised Operators who invest in their Team Members, care for their communities, and create opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Since the beginning, Chick-fil-A Groves has worked to maintain a clean and safe environment, serve high-quality food, provide fast and accurate service, and show genuine hospitality to every guest. As a Catering Assistant, you play an important role in carrying those same standards beyond the walls of the restaurant.

Catering Assistants are often the face of our restaurant at off-site events, deliveries, and Additional Distribution Points. In this role, you are responsible for helping extend the Chick-fil-A experience to guests throughout the Southeast Texas community. This may include delivering meals to individual guests and businesses, assisting with local community outreach events, supporting off-site sales opportunities, and serving at special events such as weddings or other high-end gatherings using our food trailer or service tent.

Because this role represents the restaurant outside of the building, Catering Assistants must understand that they are doing more than transporting and serving food. They are representing our brand, our values, our hospitality, and our commitment to excellence. Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, create a positive impression, and help guests experience the care and service they expect from Chick-fil-A.

We are looking for professional, courteous, hardworking, high-energy individuals who are flexible, dependable, and willing to go the extra mile to connect with guests. Catering Assistants must be able to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team, follow proper procedures, communicate clearly, and serve with genuine hospitality in every setting.

A successful Catering Assistant takes ownership of the details, stays calm in fast-paced environments, adapts to the needs of each event, and brings a positive attitude wherever they serve. Whether working inside the restaurant, delivering a catering order, setting up at an off-site event, or serving guests in the community, this person should represent the restaurant with professionalism, excellence, and care.

Position Type:

This position may be available as either part-time or full-time, depending on the needs of the restaurant and the availability of the applicant.

Because catering events and off-site opportunities often take place during peak business times, Friday and Saturday availability is required. Catering Assistants must be flexible and willing to support a variety of event schedules, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings.

Our Benefits Include:

  • Working in a positive, team-focused environment where you can make a meaningful impact on others.
  • Flexible scheduling, with the benefit of being closed on Sundays.
  • The opportunity to learn first-hand from experienced Restaurant Leaders and a strong leadership team.
  • Intentional growth and development designed to help you build valuable skills and reach your professional goals.
  • Scholarship opportunities for eligible Team Members.
  • Competitive pay.
  • A free meal each day you work.
  • Hands-on experience in customer service, food service, event support, communication, organization, and leadership.
  • A workplace that values hard work, dependability, hospitality, and personal growth.
Catering Assistant Job Description:

We are looking for dependable, professional, and service-minded individuals to assist with catering and food service duties for various indoor and outdoor events, as well as Additional Distribution Points. Catering Assistants play an important role in preparing, organizing, transporting, setting up, serving, and completing catering orders with excellence.

This position requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, safe food handling, and outstanding customer service. Catering Assistants must be able to represent the restaurant well both inside and outside the building while creating a clean, organized, and guest-focused experience.

When catering events or off-site food service opportunities are not taking place, Catering Assistants will support everyday restaurant operations by serving guests, preparing food, assisting the team, maintaining cleanliness, and helping create a positive in-restaurant experience.

Responsibilities of Catering Assistants

Catering Assistants are responsible for helping prepare and execute catering orders, off-site sales events, and Additional Distribution Points with excellence. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, packaging, and organizing catering orders in a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Following all food safety, health, sanitation, and restaurant standards.
  • Preparing orders in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
  • Confirming order accuracy before delivery, setup, or guest pickup.
  • Helping provide menu suggestions based on customer needs, event size, and expectations.
  • Knowing menu items, food ingredients, possible allergens, and available catering options.
  • Communicating with customers before events to confirm details and discuss any needed changes.
  • Transporting food, beverages, supplies, and equipment to and from event venues.
  • Loading and unloading catering orders, supplies, and equipment safely and carefully.
  • Setting up food service areas at venues according to the guest's request.
  • Decorating or arranging food-serving areas when requested.
  • Serving food and drinks at catering events and Additional Distribution Points.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional presentation at all events.
  • Making sure catering supplies are well-organized, stocked, clean, and ready for use.
  • Handling money accurately and responsibly during off-site sales events.
  • Inputting financial transaction reports after off-site sales events.
  • Communicating clearly with restaurant leadership, catering contacts, guests, and team members.
  • Responding to customer needs, concerns, or complaints in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Breaking down food service areas after events when needed.
  • Returning supplies, equipment, unused products, and paperwork to the restaurant after events.
  • Keeping track of our heating bags and coolers while they are being used by guests offsite.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of catering storage areas, catering bags, delivery vehicles, and workspaces.
  • Supporting Front-of-House operations when not assisting with catering events.
  • Providing excellent customer service at all times.
