Job description

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for leading field teams in the installation of mechanical systems including conveyor equipment, sortation systems, robotics support structures, platforms, mezzanines, and structural steel. This role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications while supporting the overall success of Fletchlineโ€™s installation operations. The Mechanical Supervisor acts as a handsโ€on leader, providing technical guidance, coordinating daily tasks, and maintaining strong communication with project management and customers.

Key Responsibilities

Installation Oversight

  • Direct and supervise mechanical installation crews to ensure safe, highโ€quality work.
  • Provide handsโ€on technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications to guide installation activities.
  • Verify alignment, leveling, anchoring, and proper assembly of mechanical components.
  • Identify and resolve installation issues quickly and effectively.

Team Leadership

  • Assign daily tasks and ensure crews have the tools, equipment, and materials required.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to support individual and crew performance.
  • Promote strong teamwork, communication, and professionalism on every project.

Safety Management

  • Enforce Fletchline and siteโ€specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure compliance with safety practices.
  • Address hazards immediately and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with Project Managers to plan labor needs, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Communicate progress updates, challenges, and manpower forecasts.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, integrators, and customer representatives at the job site.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of hours, completed work, and any deviations from scope.

Quality Control

  • Inspect work throughout installation to ensure compliance with drawings and project specifications.
  • Identify quality issues early and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain Fletchlineโ€™s high standards of workmanship and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • 3โ€“5 years of mechanical installation experience in conveyor systems, robotics, automation, material handling, or industrial construction.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading mechanical installation crews.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, alignment, rigging, and installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong problemโ€solving skills with practical, field-based judgment.
  • Ability to travel nationwide for extended periods.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising installation of conveyor systems or automation equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with project scheduling, planning, or productivity tracking.
  • Equipment certifications such as forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, or rigging.
