Thermoforming Supervisor

This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys working alongside their team while leading daily production operations. Candidates who began their careers as thermoforming operators and advanced into Lead or Supervisory positions are especially encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The Thermoforming Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the thermoforming department while actively supporting production on the manufacturing floor. This individual will lead by example, assist with machine setup and troubleshooting, coach employees, and ensure production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on leader who is comfortable spending the majority of the day on the production floor supporting employees and solving problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership for daily thermoforming production operations.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production associates while promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Work alongside operators to troubleshoot production issues, machine performance, tooling concerns, and processing challenges.
- Coordinate daily production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Ensure products consistently meet quality specifications and customer expectations.
- Monitor productivity, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Tooling, Quality, and Scheduling to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Train employees on equipment operation, setup procedures, quality standards, safety practices, and standardized work instructions.
- Support tooling changeovers, machine setups, and process improvements as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.
- Complete production reports and maintain accurate departmental documentation.
- Foster a positive work environment focused on employee development and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising or leading employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in thermoforming, vacuum forming, plastics manufacturing, or a similar plastics processing environment.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Experience setting up, operating, or supporting thermoforming equipment is highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read production schedules, work orders, and manufacturing specifications.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
