Job description

Material Planner

The purpose of this position is to identify project material demand, evaluate supply vs. demand, and initiate material requirements planning for pipe fabrication projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Create material requisitions for assigned projects.
  • Perform material take-offs from isometrics.
  • Analyze shortage and excess reports.
  • Manage material requirements for production and construction.
  • Support the Accounts Payable Department on billing issues.
  • Oversee on-hand inventory for assigned projects.
  • Prepare work orders/pick tickets for production and construction.
  • Generate material receiving reports.
  • Issue materials into the system.
  • Create packing lists for ship-loose material and intercompany/site transfers.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
  • Pipe fabrication experience.
  • Read and understand descriptions and specifications in pipe and steel isometrics and verify against material lists in the system for accuracy.
  • Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Excel emphasis).
  • Oracle JDE experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
