Our client is seeking a Building Materials Controller to serve as the senior accounting leader for one of the company's largest and most dynamic business segments. Reporting directly to segment leadership and partnering closely with Corporate Finance, this role functions as a Deputy Corporate Controller for the Building Materials business, with broad responsibility for financial reporting, consolidation, controllership, internal controls, accounting transformation, and M&A integration.

This is a highly visible leadership position that offers the opportunity to shape the future finance organization, influence enterprise-wide accounting initiatives, build Centers of Excellence, and partner directly with executive leadership on strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the Building Materials segment's financial close, consolidation, and reporting processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Review consolidated financial results and provide meaningful analysis and business insights to executive leadership
  • Support quarterly and annual SEC reporting, including financial statement disclosures and footnotes
  • Lead the maturation and standardization of accounting processes across the segment
  • Play a key role in the implementation and optimization of Tagetik and other finance technologies
  • Champion process improvements, automation initiatives, and reporting efficiencies
  • Influence enterprise-wide accounting policies, governance, and reporting frameworks
  • Help establish and scale Accounting Centers of Excellence across key accounting functions
  • Partner with Shared Services leadership to optimize global accounting operations
  • Drive consistency, quality, and scalability across the finance organization

  • Participate in acquisition due diligence, Quality of Earnings reviews, purchase accounting, and post-close integration efforts
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to successfully onboard acquired companies
  • Help establish scalable accounting and reporting processes for newly acquired businesses
  • Lead initiatives to enhance SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Partner with Internal Audit and external auditors to ensure a strong and sustainable control environment
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in enterprise governance and change management processes
  • Support the evolution of financial policies, controls, and reporting standards
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Collaborate closely with Segment CFOs, Controllers, Shared Services, FP&A, Corporate Accounting, and executive leadership
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that drive business performance and organizational effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, technical accounting, financial reporting, consolidation, or controllership
  • Big 4 public accounting background
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, building products, or construction-related industries
  • M&A experience, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration
  • Experience with Tagetik or other enterprise consolidation platforms
  • Exposure to SOX compliance, finance transformation, and shared services environments
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and public company accounting requirements
  • Experience leading complex accounting and reporting processes within large, multi-entity organizations
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive change across a complex environment

Why This Role?

This is more than a traditional Controller position. It is an opportunity to help build the future finance organization of a growing public company, lead large-scale accounting transformation initiatives, influence enterprise-wide accounting strategy, and partner directly with senior executives on reporting, governance, operational excellence, and acquisition growth.
