The Information Technology Manager (ITM) oversees the daily management, maintenance, and support of PLC Detroit’s technology systems and infrastructure. Reporting to the Operations Director, the ITM is responsible for ensuring reliable IT operations across the institution, including serving as the in-house service desk, managing PLC’s website (including UX/UI), overseeing the student information system (SIS), learning management system (LMS), Customer Relationship Management System (CRM), troubleshooting on-site technology issues, and managing the institution’s technology inventory and checkout process. This role is hands-on and operational in nature, with responsibility for implementing and maintaining technology solutions that align with PLC’s mission and operational needs.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Associate degree with significant experience considered). • 3+ years of IT experience, preferably in education or nonprofit environments. • Experience with website maintenance, basic UX/UI principles, and content management systems. • Familiarity with SIS, LMS, and CRM platforms. • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. • Knowledge of IT asset management and basic cybersecurity best practices. • Strong problem-solving and communication skills. • Commitment to PLC Detroit’s mission and values.

TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS

Website Management & UX/UI – 20% Maintain and update PLC Detroit’s website to ensure performance, accessibility, and user experience. Coordinate with leadership to ensure content accuracy and alignment with branding.

Technical Support & Service Desk – 25% Serve as the primary in-house technical support contact for staff, faculty, and students. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and system issues. Provide basic technology training and documentation.

IT Infrastructure & Systems Maintenance – 20% Support and maintain servers, networks, Wi-Fi, and security systems. Perform routine backups and monitor system health.

SIS/LMS/CRM Support – 15% Provide user support and basic administration for PLC’s Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management System (LMS), and Customer Relationship Management System (CRM). Coordinate with external vendors for advanced issues and system updates.

Technology Inventory & Asset Management – 10% Track, maintain, and manage technology equipment inventory. Oversee a library checkout system for technology resources.

Technology Implementation & Improvements – 10% Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies that improve PLC’s teaching, learning, and administrative operations.
