Qualia

Austin, TX

Full-time

Medical, Retirement

Posted 4 days ago

Job description

At Qualia, we've built the leading B2B real estate technology that transforms the home buying and selling experience into a simple, secure, and enjoyable process. Our SMB and Enterprise products bring together users from across the real estate ecosystem---homebuyers and sellers, lenders, title and escrow agents, and real estate agents---onto a single shared digital closing platform, providing greater clarity and transparency to real estate transactions. Today, through our business customers across the country, millions of consumers use Qualia to close on homes every year.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As Qualia continues to expand, we're on the lookout for a dedicated Quality Assurance Tester for our Resware product, a key player in the title insurance and settlement services industry. In this role, you'll be pivotal in testing enhancements and modifications to Resware, driven by a commitment to deliver successful outcomes for our customers. Beyond fixing bugs, this position is about understanding the end-to-end user journey, from the novice to the seasoned professional, ensuring that Resware remains intuitive, efficient, and effective for everyone.

The Quality Assurance Testing role demands a nuanced appreciation of Resware's capabilities and a strategic approach to testing. You'll play a vital role in the acceptance of our v10 product changes and updates, directly influencing how it's received in the marketplace. Working collaboratively with the Product and Engineering teams, your goal is to safeguard the application's functionality, ensuring that our solutions are high-quality and deliver an exceptional user experience tailored to meet the needs of a diverse user base.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your day-to-day work will involve, but is not limited to, the following testing activities:

  • Feature Testing: Thoroughly verifying that new functionalities meet specified requirements and behave as expected
  • Regression Testing: Ensuring that new changes do not negatively impact existing functionalities
  • Exploratory Testing: Proactively exploring the product to discover defects, usability issues, and unexpected behaviors by thinking like an end-user and intentionally "breaking" the system
  • UI/UX Testing: Assessing the user interface for intuitiveness, visual consistency, and overall user experience
  • API Testing: Validating data flow and communication between systems, potentially utilizing tools like Postman to verify endpoints
  • Integration Testing: Confirming seamless end-to-end workflows when Resware connects with external partners and systems

Beyond execution, we are looking for a strategic thinker who can demonstrate the following critical skills:

  • Risk Assessment: The ability to identify potential failure points and prioritize testing efforts based on the business impact of a defect
  • Systems Thinking: Viewing the product as an interconnected system, understanding how changes in one area can affect others, and anticipating ripple effects
  • Acceptance Criteria Definition: Collaborating with Product Managers and Developers to clearly define "done" in concrete, testable terms from the outset of development
  • Minimum Viable Testing: Balancing comprehensive testing with efficiency, identifying the essential tests needed to ensure confidence in a release, supporting our move towards a CI/CD culture
  • Defect Advocacy: Clearly articulating the impact of identified bugs on the user experience and advocating for their appropriate prioritization in the development backlog
  • Bridge to Automation: While primarily a manual testing role, an awareness of automation principles is highly valued. You should be able to identify repetitive tasks that are strong candidates for future automation and create test cases that are clear and well-documented for potential automation engineers
  • Process Improvement: Actively seeking ways to enhance our QA processes and workflows, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and blameless post-mortems
YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH
  • 1-3 years of Quality Assurance experience in the software industry is a requirement
  • Prior experience in real estate and title services, especially in title closings, is preferred for this role
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Resware user is a plus
  • 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience as a Resware administrator is a plus
  • Proficiency in computer technical skills highly preferred
  • Familiarity with automation tools, DevOps practices, and experience in writing and securing test cases is highly desirable but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills. You will be expected to flexibly manage your own time in order to achieve our business objectives each R&D cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems/issues and find solutions
  • Ability to recommend obvious and alternative solutions
  • A strong aptitude and enthusiasm for exploring and thoroughly testing new technologies
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Positive and infectious attitude
  • Desire to contribute and adapt to process changes

While this role is based in Austin, Texas, we're open to exploring remote possibilities for qualified candidates. We have other physical office locations in San Francisco, California, and Concord, New Hampshire.
