Job description

The Town of Colchester's Planning & Zoning Department seeks a detail-oriented, analytical problem solver with strong research and writing skills to join its team of energized and engaging staff. The Development Manager manages the town's development review functions, acts as the Zoning Administrator, and serves in an assistant department head capacity. This role administers Development Review Board (DRB) permits and post-approval requirements, guides the public through the permitting process, and conducts site inspections to investigate violations and ensure compliance. Successful applicants will have a relevant bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess excellent customer service skills, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and a strong understanding of land use and development laws. Proficiency with standard office suites and custom databases is required; GIS experience is preferred. Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to attend evening meetings.
