Job description

JOB TITLE: Development Manager

STATUS: Full-time / Exempt

LOCATION: Hybrid - Fairfax, VA (3 days on-site)

DEPARTMENT: Development

Salary: $75,000 - 85,000 annually

About Muslim Aid USA

Muslim Aid USA (MAUSA) is a faith-based American international charity that provides vital support to communities affected by natural disasters, conflict, and chronic poverty. MAUSA also addresses hunger, disease, illiteracy, discrimination, debt, and lack of skills or opportunity. Rooted in the Islamic values of compassion, justice, and human dignity, MAUSA serves all people regardless of faith.

Position Overview

Reporting to the COO, the Development Manager is responsible for executing and growing Muslim Aid USA's development team across community giving, major gifts, donor stewardship, and corporate outreach. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership - the Development Manager runs the day-to-day fundraising operation, manages regional coordinators and donor-relations staff, and ensures donors are well-served throughout their journey with MAUSA.

The ideal candidate is an organized, relationship-driven fundraiser who brings both field presence and data discipline - someone who can run a campaign, steward a major donor, coach a community coordinator, and pull a Salesforce report with equal comfort. Faith-based fluency and community credibility in Muslim spaces are important assets for this role.

Alignment with MAUSA Values The Development Manager models compassion, integrity, accountability, and service; upholds Islamic philanthropic principles and ethical stewardship; and fosters a collaborative, inclusive work environment grounded in humility and shared purpose.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Fundraising Execution & Donor Development

  • Implement and manage MAUSA's annual fundraising plan across community giving, major gifts, events, corporate outreach, and seasonal appeals

  • Track progress against revenue targets and flag gaps early, with actionable adjustments

  • Manage the full donor stewardship cycle - acknowledgments, impact updates, renewal outreach, and personalized engagement for recurring and major donors

  • Cultivate and solicit mid-level and major donors through direct relationship management

  • Coordinate with Digital Marketing to align online appeals, landing pages, and email journeys with campaign calendars

  • Support identification and pursuit of institutional grants, corporate sponsorships, and matching-gift opportunities

  • Use Salesforce to segment donor lists, track stewardship activities, and report on pipeline and campaign performance

Community & Campaign Engagement

  • Represent MAUSA at community events, masjid fundraisers, conventions, and donor gatherings as a credible, mission-aligned ambassador

  • Coordinate regional fundraising activities in partnership with community coordinators, ensuring consistency with national campaign strategy

  • Manage logistics and follow-up for fundraising events, working in coordination with the Event Coordinator

  • Distribute and promote campaign materials across regional partners, masajid, and community networks

  • Provide field-level feedback on donor sentiment, community trends, and campaign performance to inform strategy

Team Coordination & Reporting

  • Supervise and support a small team of community fundraisers and donor-relations coordinators

  • Provide regular coaching, goal-setting, and performance feedback to direct reports

  • Build and maintain playbooks, templates, and workflows to support consistent team execution

  • Deliver weekly activity reports and monthly revenue summaries to the COO

  • Participate in cross-functional coordination with Programs, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to align messaging, timing, and data

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
  • 4-7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or donor relations
  • Demonstrated track record of managing donor relationships and meeting fundraising goals
  • Experience coordinating or supervising fundraising staff or volunteers
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and donor analytics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to faith-based audiences
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace; ability to travel 30-50% nationally with flexible hours during major campaigns
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a faith-based or Islamic nonprofit environment
  • Familiarity with Islamic philanthropy concepts (zakat, sadaqah, qurbani) and seasonal fundraising dynamics
  • Proposal writing or grant-development experience
  • Experience with peer-to-peer campaigns, digital acquisition, or influencer-driven outreach
  • Familiarity with corporate partnership development and major-gift cultivation
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary ($75,000-$85,000 annually based on experience)

  • 100% employer paid Medical; Partial employer paid Dental and Vision benefits (available upon hire)

  • Robust time-off package including, vacation, sick and personal leaves; and federal and Islamic holidays

  • 3% employer-funded 401(k) contribution

  • Purpose-driven, collaborative environment with national leadership exposure

  • Professional development opportunities and faith-centered service

  • Hybrid from Fairfax, VA (3 days per week on-site)
