Las Colinas, TX. This role is a hybrid position. The selected candidate is expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities.

About the Role:

The Sr. Manager, Contract Development is a working manager role that both leads a team of contract development managers and directly supports select strategic, complex customer agreements across McKesson Health Systems (MHS), Community Pharmacy & Health (CP&H), Provider Solutions, and other assigned business units and segments. This role supports Sales teams and their leadership by actively guiding deal structure, contract strategy, stakeholder alignment, and issue resolution for complex contracting matters.

This position serves as a trusted advisor to Sales, Legal, Deal Evaluation, Finance, Operations, and other key stakeholders by helping translate business objectives, customer requirements, and risk considerations into clear, actionable contract solutions. The Sr. Manager is expected to be hands-on in higher-impact or complex deals while also partnering with Sales Operations and Governance leadership to improve contracting systems, processes, tools, and operating practices across business units.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead Complex Contract Strategy & Execution: Directly lead and guide the development and execution of complex, high-impact customer agreements, including deal structure, contractual strategy, issue resolution, and business risk assessment. Provide sound judgment and practical recommendations to address unique customer requirements and business needs.

  • Team Leadership & Talent Development: Manage and develop a blended workforce of contract development managers, AI-enabled solutions, and digital agents. Enable effective use of AI-powered tools, automation, and digital resources, and foster technology-enabled ways of working that improve productivity, quality, and employee experience.

  • Contract Portfolio & Metrics Management: Oversee contract assignments, prioritization, workload balancing, and timely completion of contract deliverables while personally contributing to high-priority or escalated deal activity as needed. Partner with peer senior managers to coordinate team meetings, manage priorities, share best practices, and deliver monthly performance metrics.

  • Deal Structuring & Stakeholder Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic partner to Sales teams and business leaders on contract structure, customer requirements, operational impacts, escalation paths, and evolving business and legal considerations, with direct involvement in more strategic or complex deals.

  • Risk Identification & Escalation: Identify emerging business, legal, operational, and process issues that may impact contract outcomes. Assess when matters can be resolved independently and when escalation to Legal, business owners, or senior leadership is appropriate.

  • Process Innovation & Cross-BU Collaboration: Design, implement, and continuously refine cross-business unit contracting processes to improve consistency, scalability, quality, and stakeholder alignment across MHS, CP&H, Provider Solutions, and other supported business segments.

  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate contracting processes, data, tools, AI capabilities, templates, technology platforms, and workflows. Leverage process analytics and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, transparency, scalability, and business outcomes.

  • Digital & AI Fluency: Demonstrates understanding of automation, workflow technology, generative AI, agent-based solutions, and digital transformation concepts. Able to identify use cases, manage adoption, and ensure responsible application of emerging technologies.

  • Data & Operational Insights: Utilize operational metrics, workflow analytics, AI-generated insights, and performance dashboards to identify trends, improve decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across contract development operations.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal business partners, including Sales, Legal, Deal Evaluation, Finance, Operations, and business unit leadership. Act as a liaison among stakeholders to resolve issues, align priorities, and drive contract progression.

Basic Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.

  • 9+ years of contracts, proposals, deal-building, or related commercial experience.

  • 1+ years of people management experience, including direct supervision, coaching, and performance management of professional staff.

  • Contract Strategy, Business & Legal Acumen: Deep knowledge of contract language, deal structure, contracting processes, and commercial requirements; strong ability to interpret nuanced business and legal concepts, personally support complex deal work, and guide teams through complex contract matters.

  • Strategic, Analytical, and Results-Oriented Leadership: Leverages data, automation, AI-enabled insights, and business expertise to solve complex problems, anticipate future needs, directly contribute to strategic deal outcomes, and drive measurable business results.

  • People Leadership & Relationship Building: Leads, mentors, and develops others; fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture; builds trusted relationships with Sales, Legal, Finance, Operations, and other cross-functional partners.

  • Communication, Professionalism & Influence: Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills; models professionalism, approachability, and discretion; effectively navigates objections, competing priorities, and challenging stakeholder discussions.

  • Change, Innovation & Technology Leadership: Leads teams through organization, process, and technology changes. Champions innovation, continuous learning, digital adoption, and responsible AI practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a Hybrid role in Irving, TX. Candidates will be expected to work onsite 2 days per week.

  • Up to 5% travel.
