Position Summary

The Engineering Business Development Manager is responsible for driving strategic growth, client acquisition, and market expansion for the Engineering & Construction Group. This role develops and maintains relationships with key clients, identifies new business opportunities, supports proposal development, and collaborates closely with engineering, operations, and executive leadership teams to achieve revenue and profitability goals.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical understanding of engineering and construction services with proven business development, sales, and relationship management experience.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within industrial, commercial, infrastructure, energy, and construction markets.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, developers, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to support strategic planning.

Client Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and existing clients.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and project discussions to understand customer needs and position company capabilities.
  • Maintain long-term relationships to promote repeat business and client satisfaction.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and trade associations.

Proposal & Contract Development

  • Lead or support preparation of proposals, qualifications packages, bids, and presentations.
  • Coordinate with engineering, estimating, and project management teams to develop competitive solutions and pricing strategies.
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, and commercial terms in collaboration with leadership and legal teams.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Work closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure successful project transitions from pursuit to execution.
  • Assist in identifying project risks, opportunities, and client expectations during preconstruction and planning phases.
  • Support strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and subcontractor relationships.

Reporting & Performance

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and CRM updates.
  • Track key performance metrics, revenue targets, and business development activities.
  • Prepare regular reports for executive leadership regarding market opportunities and sales performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of business development, sales, or client management experience in engineering, construction, EPC, or industrial services.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and construction project lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and close business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with proposal development and contract negotiations.
