DESCRIPTION:
Join our collaborative team as a Business Development Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll support strategic growth initiatives and establish valuable partnerships. You'll identify and pursue opportunities including commercial partnerships, R&D collaborations, licensing agreements, and strategic alliances to support our business strategy. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll manage contract negotiations, assess market opportunities, and develop innovative solutions that help our customers make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Your work will create meaningful impact as you help expand our portfolio and capabilities through strategic business development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead strategic business development initiatives and guide a portfolio of partnerships to support Thermo Fisher Scientific’s mid- to long-term growth strategy
  • Drive identification and execution of commercial partnerships, R&D collaborations, and strategic alliances across the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries
  • Provide strategic direction in defining and prioritizing business opportunities through in-depth analysis of market trends, technologies, and competitive landscapes
  • Develop and review financial models and scenario analyses to clearly communicate profitability, risks, and strategic fit to senior leadership
  • Partner with and influence cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, Sales, Legal, and Finance to structure, align, and advance complex deals
  • Support and mentor team members and project contributors throughout the deal lifecycle, fostering collaboration and execution excellence
  • Oversee post-deal execution, performance tracking, and long-term strategic partner relationship management
  • Manage business opportunity pipelines and enable data-driven decision-making through CRM systems
  • Drive sustainable growth by collaborating with global partners and key internal and external stakeholders


REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Advanced or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or related field
  • Professional certifications in project management or business development a plus

Experience:

  • 8+ years in business development, strategic partnership, or related commercial experience in life sciences/pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated success developing and closing complex business deals and strategic partnerships
  • Experience with technology licensing, IP strategy, and partnership structures preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience with contract development and execution
  • Deep understanding of life sciences markets, technologies, and competitive landscape
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with capacity to explain technical concepts clearly
  • Proven project management capabilities and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and MS Office suite
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills for evaluating opportunities
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment and collaborate across teams
