The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time - Director, Library at our Bryan Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary
Manage daily operations and oversee provision ofprofessional library services at the Bryan and RELLIS Campus libraries serving a studentpopulation of over 12,000.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Provides effective management of the daily operationof the Bryan and RELLIS Campus Libraries.
  • Contributes to the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of objectives related to strategic planning and library service reviews. Gathers and reports data on Library functions and services.
  • Maintains human aspects of the Bryan and RELLIS Campus Libraries including resolving both library personnel and patron issues.
  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates professional and non-professional library staff. Works in partnership with library staff to establish and achieve professional goals. Hires and supervises student workers. Manages budget allocations for Federal Work study.
  • Serves as liaison between the library and faculty, staff, and administration. Serves on college councils and committees.
  • Supports and ensures that the library follows Blinn College policies and procedures.
  • Directs the development, assessment, and implementation of the reference services and instructional classes that are provided by librarians to faculty and students. Schedules instruction sessions and workshops. Assists with instruction as needed.
  • Contributes to the management and evaluation of the library website and makes recommendations for modifications of website.
  • Evaluates library resources for all locations. Assesses new and existing resources and makes recommendations to ensure the library collection supports the mission of the college. Contributes to the development and maintenance of the library's print and electronic collections.
  • Creates and maintains relationships with Distance Learning and Dual Credit program managers. Manages, coordinates, and markets library resources and services offered to distance learning and dual credit faculty and students.
  • Develops budget recommendations. In collaboration with Dean of Academic Affairs, evaluates library expenditures and assessment of library budget.
  • Participates in preparation of SASCOC reports and visits.
  • Teaches library instruction sessions when needed.
  • Collaborates, as needed, with the leaders of each of Blinn's campus libraries/learning resource centers to ensure effective services and resources for students, faculty and staff.
  • Shares in responsibility for ensuring and documenting SACSCOC accreditation of Blinn's Library and Learning resources and services.
  • Performsother related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
  • Masters degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program.
  • Three years experience in an academic or comparable library
  • Supervisoryexperience

Minimum Competencies
  • Broad knowledge of library operations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively with freshman and sophomore students, faculty, administrators, and clients.
  • Knowledge of instructional concepts, methodologies, technologies, and the goals of information literacy.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to contribute collegially and productively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with library integrated software, databases, and print and non-print resources relevant to academic libraries and the ability to use and teach them effectively.

This is a 40 hours per week, on campus position.
