Office Assistant (Circulation), 53% - South Regional

Typical Schedule: Monday or Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. โ€“ 8 p.m. Tuesday: 9 a.m. โ€“ 2 p.m. Friday: 9:30 a.m. โ€“ 6 p.m. (off when working on Saturday) Saturday: 9:15 a.m. โ€“ 6 p.m. (every 3rd week with 1 hour and 15-minute lunch break) Sunday: 12:30 p.m. โ€“ 6 p.m. (every 12th week with 10-minute break) Must be able to work a flexible schedule. This position includes one evening shift per week (Monday), every third Saturday, and every twelfth Sunday on a rotating basis.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provides excellent customer service in a team-based environment in the South Regional Library Circulation Unit. Shares in the responsibility for coverage of the Circulation Desk. Supports library circulation functions such as checking items in and out, daily intake and delivery of library materials, pulling holds, shelving, stocking displays, library notices, fee collection, and customer accounts. Registers new borrowers and resolves issues related to library accounts. Assists with money handling to include, but not limited to, daily revenue reports, cash management reports, and reconciling cash register. Assists with monitoring and answering LibAnswers/LibChat. Performs related tasks as required or requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of library principles, methods, materials, and practices. General knowledge of theory and objectives of a public library system. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library employees and patrons. Ability to use personal computers and word processing. Possess excellent internal and external customer service skills. Basic computer skills.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High School Graduation or GED equivalent. One (1) year of customer service, clerical support or related experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: Public Library experience Knowledge of library circulation systems

Physical Demands: Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
