OVERVIEW
Job Title: Ireland Library Circulation Assistant
Location: St. Paul
Pay Rate: $16.50
Hours: Must have availability Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:45am - Noon and Saturdays 12-5pm
JOB SUMMARY:
Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library on St. Paul South Campus is looking for a Student Circulation Assistant. This position circulates materials, maintains the library collection, and assists patrons with basic research needs. It may also involve site management without staff supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As an Ireland Library Circulation Assistant, you will perform the following tasks:
  • Circulate incoming and outgoing library materials
  • Scan books for inter-library loan
  • Maintain the collection (find & shelve books, shelf-read, etc.) according to the Library of Congress call number system
  • Uphold a culture of academic hospitality and customer service for a diverse community of patrons in a Catholic seminary environment
  • Provide basic reference, research, and technical assistance in-person and over the phone
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties such as building walk-throughs, carrel checks, and statistics tracking
  • Occasionally manage site without supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong interest and ability in problem-solving
  • Ability to balance priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
