Job description

POOL - Student Circulation Assistant – Anschutz Library

Student Circulation Assistants at Anschutz Library provide helpful and friendly assistance to library patrons at the circulation desk. Regular tasks include checking items in/out, shelving items, answering patron questions about library services and resources, and occasional assistance with special projects. Anschutz student workers also provide staffing for the Spahr Engineering Library desk while classes are in session.

Provide friendly and helpful assistance to library patrons. This includes answering patron questions, providing general information and directional guidance, and referrals to University sources using appropriate library resources. Check in/out, organize, and shelve library materials. Perform a variety of collection maintenance duties, including shelving and shifting materials. Assist patrons with and maintain library technology and equipment. Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Previous work experience which utilized effective communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a team environment, as evidenced by application materials. Previous work or volunteer experience providing customer service, as evidenced by application materials. Library work experience and/or knowledge of KU Libraries as a user, as evidenced by application materials. Demonstrated computer and research skills, including knowledge of Voyager library system, database and web searching, and word processing, as evidenced by application materials. Work study eligibility. Availability to work all year, including breaks, as evidenced by application materials. Previous work experience with the Library of Congress classification system, as evidenced by application materials.
