Location: South Middle School
Position Type: Classified Support Staff
Pay Range: Range 8 $14.62 to $15.47 per hour

Position Summary

Salina Public Schools is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Instructional Assistant Library/Media to support the daily operations of the school library. This position assists students and staff in accessing library resources, maintains the library collection and media equipment, and helps create a welcoming environment that promotes literacy and a love of reading.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist students, teachers, and staff in locating and using library resources.
  • Check materials in and out, shelve books, and maintain an organized library collection.
  • Process new library materials, including cataloging, labeling, and shelving.
  • Assist with library activities such as story time, reading programs, book fairs, contests, and other literacy events.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide a safe, positive learning environment in the library.
  • Maintain accurate library records, inventories, and circulation data.
  • Perform minor maintenance on library media equipment and in-library computers.
  • Repair, discard, or replace library materials as needed.
  • Distribute library books, periodicals, and media equipment to classrooms.
  • Supervise student helpers and volunteers.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and basic computer software.
