Job description

Overview

Responsibilities

The Revenue Cycle Director provides comprehensive leadership and oversight of end-to-end revenue cycle operations within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting. This role partners closely with ancillary departments, HIM, and Case Management to ensure accurate documentation, timely coding, and effective management of DNFB to support revenue integrity and compliance. The Director actively monitors key performance indicators, including DNFB, AR days, and denial trends, implementing process improvements to optimize cash flow in a lean-resource environment.

The Revenue Cycle Director serves as a key liaison between hospital operations, affiliated rural health clinics, and the Central Business Office (CBO), ensuring clear communication, alignment of workflows, and efficient end-to-end revenue cycle performance. This leader fosters collaborative relationships with physicians, clinical teams, and administrative departments to support accurate charge capture, compliant billing, and an exceptional patient financial experience.

The Director is responsible for maintaining compliance with CMS, state, and payer regulations, while driving operational efficiency, accountability, and service excellence across all revenue cycle functions within the organization.

Please note: this role is required to be physically based at a Prime facility within Texas or Maine. Remote is not offerred.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field, or ten (10) years of relevant experience revenue cycle management.
  • Five (5) years of experience leading end-to-end revenue cycle management for critical access hospitals (CAH); ideally within a multi-state multi-facility capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of cost-based reimbursement, and all other CAH-specific reimbursement nuances.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced computer skills required
  • Strong knowledge of health plan requirements
