Job description

Summary

The SEC Reporting Consultant serves as an accounting expert and applies accounting acumen to customers on a project basis, providing customer project management, XBRL data modeling, mapping, tagging, and review of customer XBRL projects in compliance with quality and customer satisfaction standards. We are committed to providing comprehensive training of XBRL principles and equipping you with the proficiency to effectively utilize the Workiva platform in facilitating our clients' XBRL filings.

What You'll Do

  • Model the XBRL Mapping, utilizing the applicable Taxonomy, selecting the appropriate line item concepts, axis, and members

  • Interpret guidance from the applicable taxonomy to determine accuracy of tag choice and ensure that extensions follow the relative intent of the taxonomy

  • Tag the values in the companies' Financial Statements and Notes, Financial Statement Schedules, and other information requiring tagging with the concepts identified

  • Determine whether values are stated at a point in time (Balance Sheet), or over a period of time (P&L), and whether monetary values represent debits or credits.

  • Master the intricacies of financial reporting, spanning a range of vital components including stock-based compensation, fair value assessment, derivatives, pensions, income taxes, inventory valuation, investments, property, plant and equipment, comprehensive income, leases, revenue recognition, and the latest accounting standards. Your expertise will illuminate our financial landscape, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in every facet of reporting.

  • Maintain knowledge of taxonomies, SEC regulations, emerging XBRL requirements, and accounting

  • Map the Financial Statements and Notes, and Financial Statement Schedules to the appropriate XBRL taxonomy (GAAP, IFRS)

  • Review the accounting policies, statements, notes, and schedules, and gain an understanding of the amounts presented to identify the related accounting standards concepts in the appropriate taxonomy

  • Understand the industry accounting disclosures specific to company customers

  • Maintain knowledge of taxonomies, regulations, and accounting standards' changes

  • Stay current with industry trends, updates on accounting standards and regulatory requirements, identifying and apply new skills

  • Collaborate with other internal teams, including Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and Learning & Development, to advance company training and standardize changes


What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 2+ years of experience, experience working in a CPA firm or financial reporting environment preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CIA certification

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and to a high-quality standard

  • Successful experience working cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Sound knowledge of and competency with SEC and SEDAR reporting requirements

  • Strong U.S. GAAP (or other accounting standards where applicable) acumen and understanding of financial reporting

  • Understand and interpret taxonomy structure

  • Demonstrated capacity for self-motivated initiation, execution, and consistent follow-through

  • Ability to allow for contingencies, prioritize multiple and potentially overlapping customer requirements, and plan filing dates

  • Willingness to travel, less than 10% travel expected for team and corporate meetings, contributing to building strong relationships and representing the company's interests

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Minimal travel for internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $68,000.00 - $108,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
