The Learning & Development Specialist is a per diem role that will teach a CPS Class The schedule may differ during training weeks. The pay rate is $29.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Prepare, organize, and distribute training materials (including Spanish-language materials); set up rooms/virtual platforms (Zoom/Teams), A/V, name tents, sign-in sheets, and accessibility resources.
  • Coordinate day-of logistics (room access, refreshments per policy, technology checks, interpreter/microphone/headset setup).
  • Support virtual learning logistics: manage waiting rooms, breakout rooms, chat moderation, polls, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate support to Spanish-speaking participants; assist with registration, pre-work, attendance, breaks, and learning activities.
  • Translate or relay trainer messages in Spanish/English during activities, reminders, and group instructions (non-legal, non-certified translation).
  • Uphold person-first, trauma-informed, recovery principles; ensure psychological safety and inclusion.
  • Assist trainers during activities (timing, handouts, small group coordination, role plays, and skills practice).
  • Track participation, practice hours, assignments, and assessments as directed by lead trainers.
  • Flag participant needs or accommodations and coordinate with trainers/administrators to respond promptly.
  • Collect and safeguard attendance, evaluations, pre/post-tests, and completion records; enter data accurately into designated systems.
  • Maintain organized digital/physical files in line with DBHIDS/MHP protocols and confidentiality standards (HIPAA/PHI when applicable).
  • Support generation of reports (attendance summaries, evaluation rollups) for internal and funder requirements.
  • Adhere to DBHIDS CPS training standards, timelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Follow MHP policies on privacy, ethics, professional boundaries, and incident reporting.
  • Participate in debriefs/continuous improvement: document issues, propose solutions, and implement approved enhancements.
  • Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHPโ€™s mission.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; associateโ€™s degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience supporting trainings, classrooms, workshops, or community education preferred.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health, recovery, peer support, or adult learning is a plus.
  • Experience working with Spanish-speaking communities and culturally responsive practices preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) requiredโ€”conversational to fluent in both oral and written communication, sufficient to support training operations and participant assistance.
  • Strong customer service, organization, and time management skills; able to prioritize in a dynamic training environment.
  • Competence with Zoom/Teams, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and basic A/V equipment.
  • Detail-oriented with accurate recordkeeping and data entry.
  • Ability to uphold trauma-informed, person-first, recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality (HIPAA/PHI as applicable).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; receptive to coaching and feedback.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move training materials and equipment up to 25โ€“30 lbs occasionally (e.g., boxes of manuals, A/V, easels).
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and room setup for up to 2โ€“4 hours at a time; ability to remain seated for virtual facilitation blocks.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers, projectors, microphones, and office equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to facilitate/monitor classroom and virtual activities and to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English
