Jamestown Public School District is accepting applications for a Kitchen Assistant at Jamestown High School.
Starting hourly wage for this position is $16.56/hour.

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Basic Function: Assist in preparing meals for your location. Serve meals to students. Assist with fresh fruit & vegetable bar, salad bar, and pizza line. Assist with dish room duties. Assist with point of sale. 
Duties to be performed: 










  1. Assist in the final preparation before serving meals.
  2. Assist in preparing meals for satellite locations.
  3. Assist in prepping and preparing fresh fruits & vegetables daily for breakfast and/or lunch.
  4. Assist in stocking ala carte items and maintain inventory.
  5. Assist in monitoring tray accuracy, items on the tray meet reimbursable meal requirements.
  6. Maintain daily production records for breakfast & lunch.
  7. Assist with dishwashing and clean-up of the kitchen area throughout the day and after meals have been served.
  8. Properly washes and sorts dirty dishes and keeps the dish area free of clutter and organized.
  9. Properly washes, sanitizes, stacks, and stores trays, silverware, pots, pans, etc.
  10. Changes the water in sinks if used as water cools and uses the proper amount of soap/chemical dilutions.
  11. Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen as directed by the Food Service Director and Kitchen Manager in a manner consistent with the health department standards.
  12. Communicates groceries and supplies that are needed weekly to the Asst. Kitchen Manager and/or Kitchen Manager.
  13. Assists in helping unload truck deliveries.
  14. Check-in ALL deliveries to your location, signing invoices AFTER the delivery has been verified.
  15. Receive, put away, rotate, and store items in an appropriate, organized & timely manner.
  16. Report any substandard quality of food received to the Kitchen Manager immediately.
  17. Assist in checking expiration dates on all inventory items.
  18. Collect money for breakfast, lunch, and ala carte and properly record it.
  19. Help students enter their lunch numbers and enter the students lunch items presented by students and adults for lunch, milk, and ala carte items.
  20. Run daily reports as required, balancing with money received.
  21. Report any problems/discrepancies to the Cashier Manager in a timely manner.
  22. Demonstrate organization and professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the job.
  23. Participate in food service staff meetings and/or conferences.
  24. Complete annual training necessary to meet minimum Professional Standard hours.
  25. Greet all students, faculty, staff, and visitors courteously.
  26. Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  27. Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personnel.
  28. Dress appropriately for the position and work required as specified by the Food Service Director. (Hairnet, cap, or wide band must be worn while preparing and serving food this includes aprons and glove use as appropriate)
  29. Accept constructive criticism, feedback, suggestions, and seek to improve performance.
  30. Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
  31. Report immediately to the Food Service Director, Kitchen Manager, or the building Principle any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria premises.
  32. Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
  33. Must be willing to communicate with the Food Service Director, Kitchen Manager, Cashier Manager, Coworkers, Building Staff, and Delivery Personnel in a professional and respectful manner.


Specifications/Qualifications: Preference for high school graduate, but not required. Must have excellent communication skills, a passion for exceeding expectations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
Physical Requirements: Some lifting, bending, standing in one place required. A Kitchen Assistant will have the ability to stand for long periods of time, work as part of a team, and precisely follow health and hygiene practices. Required to follow the guidelines of The National School Lunch Program and The ND Department of Public Instruction.
