Position Title: Kitchen Assistant Department: Kitchen Operations Reports To: Kitchen Manager / Store ManagerPosition OverviewThe Assistant Kitchen supports daily food preparation and cooking activities within the supermarkets kitchen or deli department. This role ensures that food is prepared safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality and hygiene standards. The Assistant Kitchen helps maintain a clean and organized work environment, assists with plating and packaging food products, and provides excellent service support to ensure customers receive fresh, high-quality meals.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in food preparation under the guidance of the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor. Wash, peel, chop, cut, or portion ingredients as required. Help with cooking, baking, grilling, or other kitchen tasks. Support with packaging, labeling, and displaying ready-to-eat items. Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment. Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times Monitor stock of ingredients and report shortages to the supervisor. Dispose of waste properly and ensure cleaning schedules are followed. Assist in receiving, checking, and storing food supplies. Provide friendly and efficient service to customers when required.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in food preparation, kitchen work, or deli operations preferred (but not always required; on-the-job training available).
