The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in governmental and public transportation accounting while contributing to an organization that provides essential transportation services throughout New York's Capital Region.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Prepare and record journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
โ€ข Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
โ€ข Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
โ€ข Process invoices, monitor receivables, and resolve discrepancies.
โ€ข Prepare financial reports, analyses, and audit documentation.
โ€ข Support compliance with accounting policies and regulations.
โ€ข Collaborate with departments and provide excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
โ€ข Internship or relevant accounting experience preferred.
โ€ข Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
โ€ข Basic understanding of GAAP.
