Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION - Junior Estimator

Department: Estimating

Reports to:  Chief Estimator

Supervisory Reports:  None

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Junior Estimator assists the Estimating department by gathering pricing, performing quantity take-offs, and delivering bids.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes accurate take-offs for paving, concrete, and wet utilities
  • Sets up bids into HCSS HeavyBid software
  • Prepares material lists for assigned bids
  • Solicits quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and maintains correspondence
  • Analyzes and inputs quotes in an organized manner
  • Assists the Estimating team with tasks that relate to preparing estimates
  • Meets all deadlines with necessary documentation
  • Performs on-screen takeoffs using Agtek 4D
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent technical training and/or experience
  • Experience using HCSS HeavyBid estimating software preferred
  • Experience using Agtek software preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
