Cornerstone Systems is seeking an Intermodal Team Lead for our Corporate Headquarters in Memphis, TN. The Intermodal Team Lead serves as a key leader within the Intermodal Operations department, providing operational guidance, coaching, and subject matter expertise while ensuring the successful execution of daily freight movements across a national network. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, developing team members, improving profitability, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Provide subject matter expertise and operational guidance across all aspects of intermodal operations, including origin, transit, destination, financial, and pool management.
  • Manage the cost and profitability of freight movements while ensuring exceptional customer service and communication throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Resolve Blume unmatched transactions and AP exceptions to ensure timely payment to vendors and carriers.
  • Analyze customer KPIs and scorecards, providing recommendations to improve operational performance.
  • Partner with the Finance team to review and validate customer accessorial charges.
  • Assist with the onboarding, training, coaching, and ongoing development of team members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Promote consistency by implementing and following departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Partner with Sales to identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve margins within assigned customer accounts.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying root causes of operational issues and implementing solutions to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Support EDGE reporting and monitoring in partnership with the Octagon team.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, container inventory, bookings, and gate reservations to maximize efficiency and minimize container dwell time.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to optimize deliveries, pickups, staffing, and seasonal workloads.
  • Assist the Director of Intermodal Operations in analyzing operational metrics, identifying improvement opportunities, and standardizing processes across the department.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages accountability, innovation, and sound decision-making.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations; intermodal experience preferred.
  • Experience managing operational costs and profitability preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
