Job description

Overview
The Intermodal Carrier Account Manager is the primary point of contact between NFI and its valued third-party Intermodal Drayage Carrier Base. In this role you will monitor shipment performance, communicate proactively, and provide outstanding responsiveness to NFI's Carrier Base and Intermodal Account Management Team. This role reports to the Intermodal Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for load planning, optimization, routing and scheduling of all shipment legs for an intermodal move.
  • Understands NFI's carrier requirements and assesses if carriers meet those standards in order to deliver the high level of service we demand.
  • Responds to customer/driver needs by answering e-mails, phone calls, tracking and moving shipments.
  • Monitors market requirements by lane including supply/demand shifts to maximize efficiency and smooth network operations.
  • Negotiates network rates, spot rates, and capacity with carriers for the purpose of driving revenue growth.
  • Collaborates pro-actively with customers, vendors, drayage agents, and internal personnel to:
    • Foster growth through collaboration with all NFI Departments and willingness to do "whatever it takes" to ensure our partner's needs are met.
    • Effectively build relationships with Customer Account Managers.
    • Address and solve shipment issues within managed accounts.
    • Notify carriers and customers of delays to their shipments and provide enroute problem resolution and troubleshooting.
    • Ensure supporting documentation such as: POD's, BOL's, Images, OS&D forms etc. are provided to NFI by its vendors
  • Presents a positive attitude in all interactions with customers, vendors, drayage agents and peers.
  • The above responsibilities are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position. Incumbents will follow any other instructions, and perform any other related duties, as assigned by their supervisor.

Qualifications
  • BA or BS Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years Brokerage experience preferred working with domestic truckload, LTL, and intermodal shipments.
  • Familiarity with DOT trucking regulations (Hours of Service, Claims etc)
  • Proficient in using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment that involves learning and using multiple applications and handling a high volume of phone calls
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Rudimentary knowledge of TMS programs used for brokerage services
  • Familiarity with External and Internal NFI pricing tools
  • Individual commitment towards sharpening existing or acquiring new skills as required by demands of the business or customers.

We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $27.38 - 35.00, based on the national average for the position. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, geographic location, when determining a starting rate of pay. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 3%.
