Job description

Central Intake Representative - Where Patient Care Begins


The role of the Central Intake Representative (CIR) is to perform all tasks related to the organizations centralized psychiatric intake admission process of inpatient and outpatient visits including insurance eligibility verifications when applicable. This role is designed to enhance referral source and patient satisfaction by providing a prompt and accurate centralized process for the handling of referrals for the organizations psychiatric programs. The CIR ensures that urgency and timely communication throughout the referral until the individual hospital admission approval and or denial. Central Intake Rep drives data collection and provides the presentation through defined process and technology to the approved provider of facility for admit consideration. The CIR assists in the initial registration and input of facilities E.H.R, discloses any patient concerns, and operates inside the response timeline to promote shortened patient approval/denial wait times for consideration of services. The CIR must have the ability to manage and lead defined processes per shift daily and have extensive knowledge of insurance eligibility and verification to provide support and assistance in needed situations. Immaculate organizational and time management skills, multi-tasking must be maintained to ensure accurately collect data and presentations and knowledge and summary of medical aspect of referrals criteria for services is adhered to. The CIR secures pertinent clinical and psychosocial information from the referring agencies/facilities which are utilized to expedite admission presentations to the on-call Psychiatrist so he/she may determine the admission status and appropriate level of care for each referral. The CIR assures timely patient-specific presentation and communicates to hospital leaders/departments/units prior for final admission approval. The CIR provides clinical presentations to the psychiatrist on call for each program as determined by the physician coverage programs schedule. The Central Intake Representative reports directly to the Central Intake Coordinator.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to high. The work environment may include chemicals used for cleaning, and have dust, mist, and stream generated in housekeeping tasks. This is a smoke-free workplace.


The employee must provide documentation of a tuberculosis test during new-hire orientation and annually thereafter.


Additional work environment characteristics include sitting four or more hours per day, performing repetitive tasks/motion, and hearing alarms, telephone, and normal speaking voice. Stress is identified as a job hazard resulting from a hectic environment with frequent interruptions. The environment alone presents a certain amount of risk servicing psychiatric patients in acute and crisis needs.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:State accredited program completion

License:Clinical License Recommended, LPN and RN Preferred

Experience:Minimum 1 year in Intake or Admission Department or experience in related environment

Proficient knowledge of PC computers and communication software utilization

Work Shifts:

12-hour shifts / 3-2 spilt rotation every other weekend off

AM - 6:00a-6:00p
