Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead our company-wide HR operations and talent strategy across our corporate office and hotel properties. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will serve as a vital partner to executive leadership, driving organizational development, legal compliance, talent acquisition, total rewards, and employee engagement.

What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership & Compliance
  • Drive Strategic HR Initiatives: Partner with executive leaders to align HR strategy with long-term company objectives and present metrics at Regional Director of Operations (RDO) meetings.
  • Maintain Employment Compliance: Ensure full organizational compliance with all local, state, and federal employment regulations, formal offer documentation, and annual EEO-1 filings.
  • Manage Risk & Legal Affairs: Act as the primary lead and decision-maker for EEOC matters, labor relations, and legal counsel coordination.
  • Modernize HR Tech & Processes: Evaluate and upgrade department technology, HR systems, forms, and workflows to increase operational efficiency.
Talent Acquisition & Employee Development
  • Lead Executive & Management Recruiting: Spearhead management-level sourcing, interviewing, candidate evaluations, and offer negotiations across hotel properties and corporate teams.
  • Workforce Planning & Budgeting: Collaborate with department managers and executive leadership to forecast hiring needs and align staffing with labor budgets.
  • Elevate Onboarding & Retention: Refine onboarding practices to drive early engagement, reduce turnover, and foster long-term retention.
  • Build Growth Pathways: Design learning and development programs that empower employees to grow internally within the organization.
Employee Relations & Culture
  • Coach Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to Regional Directors, General Managers, and corporate leaders on HR best practices, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Manage Workplace Relations: Oversee disciplinary procedures, workplace investigations, resolution strategies, and exit interviews.
  • Internal Communications: Manage leadership and staff HR updates to foster transparency across departments.
Benefits, Compensation & Payroll Partnership
  • Lead Benefits Strategy: Oversee annual health insurance plan renewals, negotiate carrier rates, and partner with brokers, claim handlers, and loss adjusters.
  • Compensation & Equity: Conduct ongoing market wage evaluations, resolve pay gaps, and review pay adjustment requests.
  • Payroll Collaboration: Partner closely with payroll to ensure accurate handling of terminations, resignations, PTO, and unemployment claims.

What You Bring
  • Location Requirement: Must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the Raleigh-Durham (RDU) area.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 3 years in an HR leadership role. Multi-property hospitality experience is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: SHRM-SCP or SPHR strongly preferred (PHR considered with equivalent leadership experience).
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of employment law, EEOC guidelines, benefits administration, labor budgeting, and modern HRIS platforms.
  • Leadership Skills: Outstanding executive coaching, negotiation, workplace investigation, and written/verbal communication skills.
