Job description

A Hotel Maintenance Manager oversees the safe, efficient operation of a hotel’s infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems. Key duties include managing maintenance teams, implementing preventative maintenance programs, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. They also handle emergency repairs, guest complaints, and vendor relationships. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance schedules for all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Supervision: Lead, train, and schedule maintenance staff, including technicians and janitors.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and fire codes, including OSHA regulations.
  • Emergency Response: Act quickly to resolve urgent issues like power outages, plumbing failures, or broken equipment.
  • Project & Vendor Management: Plan renovations, oversee contractor work, and manage relationships with external service providers.
  • Budgeting: Manage the maintenance budget, tracking expenses, and reducing operating costs (e.g., energy conservation).
  • Guest Experience: Ensure all room equipment (AC, lights, plumbing) is functioning properly to maximize guest satisfaction. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, or similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction systems.
  • Leadership: Strong team management and communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose issues and make fast, effective decisions.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency with facility management software, Microsoft Office, and PMS (Property Management Systems).
