Job description

RK&K is seeking a creative and motivated individual to join our growing team as a 3D Specialist - Graphics. This position reports directly to the Graphics Manager in our Baltimore office.
Responsibilities include developing high-quality 3D models and renderings that communicate civil engineering projects to clients, stakeholders, and the public. This role supports projects of varying scale and complexity, ranging from small site developments to large-scale transportation infrastructure projects including roadway corridors, highway interchanges, and multimodal improvements.
Day-to-day work includes creating realistic models and renderings of proposed infrastructure projects, incorporating vehicle traffic, pedestrians, landscaping, lighting, and surrounding context. Projects often involve producing public-facing visual content for community outreach, stakeholder presentations, project approvals, and public meetings.
Additional responsibilities include developing real-time models, typical sections, logos, maps, and technical illustrations, as well as providing assistance to internal staff if needed.
The successful candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, flexible, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of color, texture, lighting, composition, and industry-standard visualization software. Candidates should also have experience interpreting engineering plans and working with CADD data to ensure technical accuracy across all deliverables.

Essential Functions
  • Develop 3D models and renderings from engineering, landscape, and architectural plans, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines across projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and/or external clients to discuss desired graphics, ensure technical accuracy and visual clarity.

Required Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years' experience in the A/E/C industry including large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • A strong portfolio of previous work and completed projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry-standard software, including AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Autodesk 3ds Max, V-Ray, MicroStation/ORD, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, and InDesign).
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, engaging visual communication materials.
  • Excellent creativity and artistic skills.
  • An eye for composition, realism, texture, color, and lighting.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Willingness to remain up to date on the latest creative software and hardware.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in 3D graphic design or a related field.
  • 5 years' experience in the A/E/C industry including large-scale infrastructure projects.
