Must have Skill Set:

  • Hands-on experience managing food safety systems (HARPC, supplier programs, sanitation, and allergen controls)
  • Proven ability to lead regulatory and third-party audit readiness (GFSI or equivalent certification frameworks)
  • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action implementation experience
  • Leadership capability with the ability to train, influence, and drive a food safety culture

Overview:

A manufacturing organization is seeking a Food Safety & Quality leader to oversee plant-wide compliance programs and ensure all products meet internal standards and applicable local, state, federal, and international food safety regulations. This role serves as the site’s primary authority for food safety systems, regulatory alignment, and quality assurance, while driving continuous improvement and strengthening a strong food safety culture across the facility.

Job Duties:

  • Lead and maintain all plant food safety and quality systems to ensure compliance with internal requirements and applicable regulatory agencies, including federal, state, local, and international standards
  • Oversee product safety validation processes, including finished goods release and compliance verification
  • Develop, implement, and manage integrated food safety programs such as HARPC, supplier compliance oversight, inspection protocols, and product protection monitoring systems
  • Serve as the facility’s Food Safety Team Lead, driving engagement, training, and continuous improvement initiatives across all departments
  • Manage sanitation, allergen control verification, pest control, and environmental monitoring programs
  • Maintain and support third-party certification programs (e.g., GFSI, Kosher, Halal, FDA-related standards) and audit readiness
  • Lead traceability initiatives, including mock recall and trace exercises
  • Investigate customer complaints and regulatory inquiries, providing accurate technical and compliance-related responses
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for non-conformance issues
  • Provide technical expertise related to food safety, quality systems, food defense, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a quality or food safety management role, preferably within a dry food manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure or non-routine situations
  • PCQI certification and Food Defense Coordinator certification required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis
