Overview:
Reporting directly to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor, this position keeps a finger on the food safety pulse of Boar's Head manufacturing. Responsibilities include monitoring compliance to company and regulatory standards and procedures, conducting daily pre-operational inspections, doing quality checks on raw ingredients, executing the environmental monitoring program, calibrating food safety instruments, and performing direct observations to ensure food safety programs are being implemented correctly across the facility.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-operational sanitation inspections on a daily basis, working closely with production and sanitation team members to identify and correct sanitation deficiencies
  • Monitors compliance to all regulatory and company-specific food safety and quality regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify, segregate, and place any non-conforming materials on hold, updating the hold log
  • Complete daily Acceptable Quality Limit checks
  • Provides support for micro and environmental monitoring programs as directed
  • Collect and catalog product retain samples
  • Conducts direct observations to ensure operations in compliance with internal standards, GMPs, and other regulatory requirements
  • Provide support to FSQA Analysts and FSQA Supervisors as needed
  • Work with cross-functional team to support the incident investigation and corrective action process.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience and specialized training in a food processing environment preferred
  • Understanding of food microbiology and HACCP preferred

Language Skills
  • Fluent in English. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Must have excellent oral and written skills at a technical and general level.

Mathematical Skills
  • General math skills

Physical Demands
- Candidate will have to work in refrigeration for multiple hours at a time.
- Candidate must be willing to stand for multiple hours a day.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must possess sufficient senses to perform effective organoleptic evaluations (corrected sensory ability is acceptable). This includes visual (acuity and color differentiation), olfactory, gustatory, tactile, and auditory ability.

Work Environment
  • Standard office conditions as well as plant environmental conditions (refrigerated temperatures).
