Job description

Anastasia Mosquito Control District of St. Johns County is seeking a Front Office/Intern to join our team of dedicated public servants from July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
As the Front Office Intern, you will provide customer service and administrative support to the Administration Department while serving as the first point of contact for residents, visitors, and staff at our headquarters in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. This position offers hands-on experience in office administration, customer relations, and local government operations in a professional and welcoming environment.
Position Details
  • Employment Period: July 1, 2026 - September 30, 2026
  • Schedule: Flexible schedule available during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
  • Location: In-person at AMCD Headquarters, St. Augustine, Florida
  • Salary: $18-20 per hour

Some of the duties of the position include but are not limited to:
  • Answer and route telephone calls to the appropriate staff.
  • Respond to phone inquiries professionally and courteously.
  • Enter service requests from the public accurately into the District's operations database.
  • Welcome visitors, conduct check-ins, and direct guests to appropriate personnel.
  • Retrieve all mail and sort, open, timestamp, and distribute all incoming mail daily and prepare and send any outgoing mail, as needed.
  • Receive packages, open, timestamp, and distribute to appropriate personnel
  • Copy and/or fax, and scan and distribute documents.
  • Scan, upload, organize and maintain electronic records and files, including confidential materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Clerical or office experience preferred; Public sector experience is a plus.
  • Customer service experience in an office environment preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend, speak, and write in English.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in-office Monday through Friday.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check results, to be conducted after employment offer.
