About This Role
As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in St. Johnsbury Pediatrics, you will provide direct patient care and clinical support under the supervision of physicians and advanced practice providers. This role combines hands-on patient care, care coordination, patient communication, and administrative responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care for pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and families, support patient flow, obtain health histories, vital signs, screenings, and accurately document information in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist providers with clinical procedures, injections, point-of-care testing, dressing changes, EKGs, specimen collection, and other delegated patient care activities.
- Support patient communication by answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing prescription refill requests, and communicating provider instructions to patients and families.
- Maintain patient records, manage EHR tasks and orders, stock supplies, prepare exam rooms, and ensure compliance with safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current active CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification required.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Minimum of one year of hospital or medical office experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using electronic health records and computer systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm in fast-paced environments. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
