Job description

Apogee Global RMS is partnering with a rapidly scaling organization seeking an experienced Fractional CISO Executive to elevate their security posture, strengthen governance, and guide the company through its next phase of growth. The ideal leader brings strategic clarity, operational maturity, and the ability to build a security foundation that scales.

Role Overview

The Fractional CISO will serve as the organization's seniormost security executive, responsible for defining, maturing, and executing the enterprise security strategy. This role is suited for a seasoned cybersecurity leader who can operate at both strategic and handson levels, advising executives while building practical, rightsized controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current security posture and identify critical gaps
  • Develop and implement a scalable, longterm security roadmap aligned with business growth
  • Establish and mature governance, risk, and compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO, SOC2, etc.)
  • Oversee incident response readiness, threat monitoring, and escalation protocols
  • Advise executive leadership on risk prioritization, security investments, and tooling
  • Partner with engineering, IT, HR, and operations to embed a securityfirst culture
  • Provide clear, executivelevel reporting on risks, controls, and strategic recommendations
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance initiatives as needed

Requirements

  • Proven 8-10 plus years of experience as a CISO, vCISO, or senior cybersecurity executive
  • Demonstrated success building and maturing security programs in scaling organizations
  • Deep expertise in GRC, risk management, and security architecture
  • Strong ability to anticipate threats and implement proactive controls
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical risk into business impact
  • Experience advising executive teams and influencing crossfunctional decisionmaking
